Official Statement on Harvesting Oranges at CSUF

Issued: March 1, 2023

Edited: September 10, 2025

There are two locations on campus where orange trees grow, in front of Langsdorf Hall and along the Promenade. Fruit provided by the orange trees on campus is available for students to pick for personal use, provided care is taken to avoid personal injury or cause damage to the trees (no climbing of trees, no removal or breaking of branches, and picking only ripe fruit). It is important to note that the Arboretum is a separate entity with its own policies for its trees and plants.

A collaborative effort is currently in the works between CPFM and the Environmental Justice Club to harvest fruit for the benefit of the campus Pantry. It is our hope that moving forward, CSUF student organizations will work together to coordinate future harvesting and distribution of the fruit to the campus Pantry. This will not only help provide produce to help fight food insecurity among the student population but aids in reducing fruit from going to waste on the ground.

Official Statement on CSUF Menstrual Product Dispensers

Issued: March 1, 2024

As part of our ongoing commitment to promoting accessibility and inclusivity on campus, Cal State Fullerton is pleased to announce the installation of menstrual product dispensers across 49 campus locations.

The comprehensive planning process, led by Capital Programs and Facilities Management (CPFM), ensured strategic installation procedures, restroom selections, and ongoing maintenance protocols, in alignment with California Assembly Bill 367. This initiative received no additional external funding.

No-cost basic hygienic products, including menstrual hygiene items, are now available to ensure the comfort and convenience of our students, faculty, and staff. The overwhelmingly supportive response from the CSUF campus community emphasizes the importance of providing equitable access to basic hygiene products, such as soap, toilet paper, and menstrual products.

Inclusivity is paramount, and restroom locations were strategically selected to accommodate all members of the campus community. Dispensers are monitored and replenished daily by CPFM’s custodial team.

In alignment with our commitment to fostering a campus culture of inclusivity, support, and understanding, we strive to eliminate barriers and ensure equitable access to essential hygiene products for all individuals.

CSUF Fall 2025 Campus Service Reminders

Now that the semester is underway, we’d like to share some important service reminders. Together, we can help keep our campus safe, well-maintained, and welcoming for the entire Titan community.

SERVICE CENTER

The Service Center manages requests such as plumbing, HVAC, spill cleanups, e-waste pickups, furniture moves, and more. Check with your department coordinator to determine if you have a designated facilities coordinator for your area.

CLASSROOM ACCESS

  • Custodial services unlock general-use classrooms daily.
  • If your classroom is locked, call the Service Center for immediate assistance.

OPTIMAL CLASSROOM OCCUPANCY

During the first two weeks of the semester, CPFM staff confirm that classroom seating aligns with the fire marshal’s maximum occupancy limits.

  • If your class enrollment exceeds room capacity, do not move chairs or desks from other rooms.
  • Contact the Scheduling Office for support in relocating to a more suitable space.
  • For accessibility accommodations, contact Disability Support Services at (657) 278-3112.

REDECORATING & FURNITURE MOVES

For the safety, accessibility, and well-being of our campus community, only CPFM employees are authorized to hang items, drill into walls, or move furniture and equipment.

  • Work orders are mandatory for all furniture moves, regardless of size. Submit requests through the Service Center to ensure safe handling and prevent damage.
  • This includes desks, tables, filing cabinets, bookcases, podiums, shelving, and more.
  • Unauthorized moves result in scraped floors, wall damage, and create safety hazards.
  • All moves require an ADA accessibility review to confirm that hallways, entrances, and workspaces remain compliant.

If your department is considering larger renovations or reconfigurations, begin planning and budgeting for Summer 2026 projects by contacting the Service Center.

PLANNING OF SPECIAL EVENTS

Hosting an event this semester? Advance planning is critical to ensure your event is successful and properly supported.

All events require a work order, including:

  • Department socials or office gatherings
  • Student programming
  • Campus-wide events and celebrations

Submit your request at least 3 weeks before the event date.

Event services available through work orders:

  • Custodial services
  • Waste management
  • Auxiliary power and utility support
  • Landscaping services
  • HVAC adjustments to maintain comfortable room conditions during large gatherings

Late or missing work orders may result in limited support for your event. Submitting requests well in advance allows our teams to coordinate resources and avoid scheduling conflicts.

TRASH AND WASTE PICK-UP

Custodial Services collect trash early each weekday morning, beginning at 3:00am.

  • There is no weekend trash collection. Trash placed in bins on Friday will not be picked up until Monday morning.
  • To reduce pest issues and odors in office spaces, please empty your desk trash bins into centralized/common space waste containers before the weekend, and that waste will be picked up during regular weekday custodial routes.
