As the State of California mandates 33% of the electricity mix be renewable by 2020, CSUF is poised to follow in suit. Currently, CSUF has 1 Megawatt of solar on campus with plans to double or triple that in the coming years. With escalating utility rates, Executive Orders, and decreasing costs in the distributed generation market, CSUF plans to incorporate as much solar and other renewables as possible. In addition, CSUF is currently in the midst of piloting a 500 kW Battery Storage project which will afford CSUF the ability to store energy for night time and other non-producing solar activity. CSUF is also currently meeting with Fuel Cell manufacturers to explore the benefits for our campus.
