Gordon Hall Elevator Replacement - Oct. 16

The replacement of older elevators is a top campus priority. We are continuing our work this fall to upgrade the elevators in Gordon Hall and McCarthy Hall to improve reliability and accessibility. We’re also assessing current elevator conditions across campus to plan for possible additional upgrades.

When: The second of two elevators will be replaced in Gordon Hall beginning next Wednesday, Oct. 16.

Elevator replacement in McCarthy Hall is underway, and is awaiting State Fire Marshal approval.

We aim to have new, more efficient elevators in operation by the end of this year. However, please be aware that elevator upgrades are complex, and that unforeseen delays, such as with parts delivery or third-party inspections, may extend the repairs.

Where: Gordon Hall and McCarthy Hall

One elevator will remain available in each building throughout the project. Access priority must be given to people with disabilities, pregnant women and parents/guardians using strollers.

Please leave plenty of time to arrive at your destination, in case there is a brief wait for the available elevator.

Consider using the stairs to help minimize elevator traffic jams (and to get your daily steps in!)

As always, stairwells and escalators will be kept clean, safe and open for your use.

If you need to transport bulky items up or downstairs, we recommend scheduling the move for off-peak hours – in the early morning or evening.

A large construction crane will be used at certain points during the project to remove old equipment and position the new elevators. Please watch for roped-off areas to avoid the crane.

Thank you for your patience and support for these important upgrades.

If you have further questions, please contact Pam Newton at (657) 278-3199 - office, (657) 253-2896 - cell, or via email at pnewton@fullerton.edu.
